除左燃料(fuel)之外，機油(engine oil)都對engine好重要嫁~

(***千祈唔好搞錯, fuel is fuel, oil is oil, 兩樣野係完全唔同)

今日就講下engine oil有咩function啦~

1. Lubrication

機油可以係金屬與金屬之間起一個潤滑的作用，減少佢地之間的磨擦，從而減少能量的損耗。

2. Cooling

由於oil system是會循環流動的，所以佢可以係engine度吸熱然後帶走到oil cooler，從而減低engine的溫度。

3. Cleaning

機油在流動的過程亦會帶走係engine中的外來物/污染物，然後被oil filter移去。

4. Protection

當金屬暴露於水氣之中就容易氧化生銹，所以oil 可以作為cover engine surface，防止佢地氧化生銹。

5. Sealing

機油亦有呢個密封的作用，例如：between the cylinder wall and the piston ，可以防止D fuel-air mixture的洩漏。

***仲有一樣係Oil的特別功用，就係係hydraulic operation (constant speed propeller & waste gate )***

而oil 的properties都是based on 以上的功能而定~

~ correct viscosity

~ high anti-friction

~ max fluidity at low temp

~ maintain its viscosity qualities even changes in temp

~ process max cooling abilities

~ be non-corrosive

~ resistance to oxidation

Oil system主要有兩種~

分別是 Wet-sump & Dry-sump

佢地最大的分別就是wet sump會係the bottom of engine, 而dry sump係有個external tank；由於dry sump的oil tank不在engine的底部，所以佢需要 scavenge pumps去帶走oil番番去oil tank。

而aerobatic/ Radial engine 大多都是用dry sump。
